Context is a temporary space where research and shared experimentation are aimed to transpose on stage the complex network of permutations that occur between a specific place and its elements (persons, places, objects, relationships, meaning), through an original dialogue between mapping practices and artistic creation. Starting from the idea of context (from the latin con-tèxere = weave together, interweave) as the set of circumstances that define an ‘event’, the project analyzes the concept of spatial action seen as the continuous redefinition of a specific context and its agents, as well as the constant negotiation between immobility and change, between moment and permanence. Context does not want to represent reality, but to investigate the possibilities of combining and recombining its elements, keeping alive the component of uncertainty inherent in reality itself.
Every single residence is conceived as a collaborative working platform that aim to explore the concept of CONTEXT through a interdependence research process between science, practice and production. Using the body as a vector, performers, artists and theorists share research materials, thoughts, ideas to develop a series of visual and performative formats that will embody, from a variety of viewpoints as artistic, political, social, the entire research process.
