Strata – Fields of Unknown Turbulence emerges from the encounter between performer and visual artist Alessandro Carboni and musician and composer Danilo Casti. After years of collaboration across performance, sound research, contemporary dance, and interdisciplinary practices, the two artists embark on a new performative journey exploring emergent processes and questioning the role of uncertainty as a generative force within the creative act. At the heart of their research lies the concept of unknowing: a practice that embraces unpredictability not as a limitation, but as a fertile condition from which new forms of knowledge can emerge.
The performance unfolds as a dynamic ecosystem in which body, sound, space, objects, and relationships continuously influence one another, giving rise to temporary configurations in constant transformation. Amorphous and rarefied matter gradually condenses into a layered, visual, sonic, and evocative landscape, where composition unfolds over time as a process of discovery and shared experience.
In Strata, unknowing does not represent an epistemic deficit, but rather a generative condition of performative knowledge: an invitation to inhabit uncertainty as a space of possibility.
