NOIR

Drawings | Alessandro Carboni
Production | 2000
Materials | Indian Ink

NOIR is a series of ink drawings that investigate the tension between gesture, calligraphy, and abstraction. Each work emerges from the immediacy of the hand, where movement becomes sign and sign becomes trace, oscillating between precision and spontaneity. The black ink amplifies contrasts, evoking atmospheres of intensity and silence, where every line seems both deliberate and fleeting. Developed alongside a performative practice inspired by action painting, Eastern calligraphy, and the philosophy of the sign, the series reflects on the body as a writing instrument. NOIR is both drawing and performance, a visual meditation on gesture as presence and disappearance.
